1880s Art Nouveau 200 year Antique Ashworth Pitcher Jug Signed

    Art & Collectibles ·

    $230

Here is a 200 year old piece of history that you can own for yourself. This water pitcher was used by the Victorians before both of the world wars ever took place. It is amazing to imagine what sights this jug has seen - the clothing the people at the time wore - the inventions that were yet to be. Made by Ashworth, which is clearly impressed on its base along with other maker marks. It's age and design clearly shows it to belong to the Art Nouveau movement (this predates Art Deco) This movement was focused on nature and design and used beautiful organic elements through their work - in jewelry - clothing - porcelain - and even buildings. You can see it clearly in the pitchers strong focus on the vines of leaves with berries. Surrounded by a beautiful background of black it just pops with style. And the pink, a rare colour for the day… yet so right now. This is a treasure to pass on to generations to come and will just keep growing in value. 8" tall and 6" across the handle to spout. It is in beautiful condition when you think it is over 200 years old. No cracks or chips. The paint is very good with minimal rubbing to spots. The spout has some minor wear. The top rim has a manufacture flaw. The handle is solidly attached without too much paint-wear. Clean inside. Please look at all the pictures. We are in White Rock - right by the Semihamoo Mall. We are a - no smoking - no pet - home. If you are paying in cash I would appreciate exact change. I accept PayPal - not e-transfer. We will be dropping the item off to you, by your car, in our parking lot. Thanks, Andrea
