OFFICIAL COMMEMORATIVE 2010 OLYMPIC GAMES TOTEM LARGE PIN SET (11) - individually selling for $35 to $60 / pin. This rare framed pin set was created to commemorate the 2010 Legacy (Totem) Pole that was displayed at the Four Host First Nations during the Olympic Games. On April 24, 2008, Petro-Canada announced the commission of the carving of a 7.6-metre totem pole to commemorate its sponsorship, and as a gesture to support Four-Host-First-Nations participation in the Games. Squamish carver Klatle-Bhi (pronounced "cloth bay") led the effort, which became as much enterprise as art, with the production of a video documenting the totem's production, creation of educational CD-ROMs, and merchandising of the design as a gift item. Pins were present at the first modern Olympic games in 1896, issued in three colours to athletes, judges and officials these pins were not traded as their main function was to serve as identification badges.
