Antique 3 drawer Solid Tiger Oak Victorian Chest

Antique Solid oak late Victorian to early 20th century chest of drawers with a beautiful wood grain throughout accented by the original stamped brass and pewter bail pulls and key hole plates as well as the original metal casters that allow the piece to easily pushed around the room without scratching the floor or putting strain on the legs. The piece has been converted for use as a commode/ linen chest, or sideboard by removing the original mirror however one of a similar period could easily be paired with the piece as the top has not been altered or adjusted to cover the gap where the mirror harp would have been seated (the top sits about a half to one inch further forward than the back of the chest which leaves a small gap at the back of the top when situated flush with the wall. The space was left to accommodate the original mirror frame.) This beautiful piece of history has some dings, dents, scuffs etc. As would any piece of its age and only the drawers and top have been striped of the original shellac coating to lighten the look of the wood while the sides and frame have been left as is with the original darker shellac to contrast and add depth to the piece. Should the new owner prefer the light finish the original darker shellac shellac is easily removed with a cloth and some rubbing alcohol. Drawers have been lined with a reusable wallpaper to protect the drawer bottoms which is easily removable such that it may be changed to match your existing decor and color scheme should you wish.
