The heat generated from the burning candle supposedly creates a vacuum effect that draws out earwax and other impurities from the ear. To use an ear candle, follow these steps: 1. Gather necessary supplies: You will need ear candles, a lighter or matches, a bowl or container of water, a damp cloth, scissors, aluminum foil, and a paper plate or similar cover to protect the face from residue or sparks. 2. Prepare the ear candle: Cut a hole in the center of the paper plate, and thread the bottom end of the ear candle through the hole, ensuring it is snug but not too tight. 3. Prepare the person receiving the treatment: Have the person lie on their side on a comfortable surface, with their head supported by a pillow. Make sure their hair is pulled back and kept away from the flame. 4. Insert the ear candle: Hold the bottom end of the ear candle, insert the tip gently into the ear. (Do not insert too deeply or forcefully to prevent injury.) 5. Light the top end of the ear candle: Using a lighter or match, light the far end of the ear candle above the paper plate. 6. Monitor the ear candle: Allow the candle to burn down for about 10-15 minutes. Hold the candle steady and remain attentive throughout the process. 7. Extinguish the candle: When the ear candle has burned down to about 3-4 inches above the plate, remove it from the ear and use scissors to cut off the burning end, then immediately place it in the container of water. 8. Repeat on the other ear if needed. 9. Dispose of the used candles
