Google Nest Wifi (Wi-Fi 5) system, specifically the Router and a Point (add-on). ​The device on the right is the Nest Wifi Router, identifiable by the "G" logo etched on the top and its slightly larger size. The device on the left is the Nest Wifi Point, which does not have a logo on the top and includes a built-in speaker and microphone (used for Google Assistant). Product Specifications ​Wireless Connectivity and Performance The system operates on the IEEE 802.11s mesh standard. It is a dual-band AC2200 Wi-Fi system, supporting both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. It features 4x4 MU-MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) technology, which allows it to communicate with multiple devices simultaneously to reduce congestion. The router is capable of handling up to 200 connected devices and can provide coverage for approximately 2,200 square feet per unit. ​Hardware and Processing Inside, the units are powered by a Quad-core 64-bit ARM CPU running at 1.4 GHz. They include high-performance ML (Machine Learning) hardware engines to optimize network traffic. The router typically includes 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of Flash memory to handle system updates and network management. ​Physical Interface and Ports The main router unit features two physical Gigabit Ethernet ports located on the bottom: one WAN port to connect to your internet modem and one LAN port for hardwiring a device like a switch or a gaming console. It uses a barrel-jack power connector. Note that the "Point" units in this series generally do not have Ethernet ports and rely entirely on wireless mesh backhaul. ​Smart Home and Security Security is handled via WPA3 encryption, and the system receives automatic security updates from Google. The units also contain Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for easy setup via the Google Home app. If the secondary unit is a "Point," it also contains a 360-degree speaker and far-field microphones, allowing it to function as a Google Assistant smart speaker. ​Dimensions and Build The units feature a minimalist, matte plastic finish. Each unit is roughly 110 mm in diameter and 90 mm in height, weighing approximately 380 grams. The build is designed to be unobtrusive so it can be placed in open areas for better signal propagation.
