Mid-century modern cocktail pitcher silver fade (ombré)

    Home & Garden ·

    $40

This is a mid-century modern (MCM) cocktail or martini pitcher featuring a silver fade (ombré) design. This style, often referred to as "Dorothy Thorpe style," was popular in the 1950s and 1960s. The pitcher has a distinctive silver finish that fades down the glass, transitioning from a solid, lustrous top to clear glass at the bottom. It features a straight-sided, cylindrical shape and a pinched or beaker-style spout for pouring. While commonly attributed to designer Dorothy Thorpe, actual pieces designed by her typically feature a solid, sterling silver band around the rim and do not have the "fade" or "ombré" effect. Items with the fade design were made by other companies, such as Vitreon or Queens Lusterware. Without a manufacturer's mark or original sticker, the exact maker can be difficult to confirm. It is designed for mixing and serving cocktails or other beverages. Height 7 5/8” Pickup is 58th and 7th Ave midtown Manhattan
