Minstrel Acoustic Guitar - With Fender Hardshell Case

    $300

A best value for your money guitar. This guitar will be a nicer guitar than most recent guitars built in Indonesia, Korea, and China. This guitar has aged well and the tone will only get better. This is a keeper !!! Model 462X . Wild Cherry. Serial number 3718. Offering for sale is this gorgeous extremely rare acoustic guitar, handcrafted in Quebec, between 1978 and 1982 by Robert Godin. Please note there is a guitar forum that indicates the serial number on this guitar was built in 1989. This contradicts information that I received that the Minstrel brand was discontinued in 1982. Post 1982 I believe they produced a guitar with a Seagull headstock logo and a Minstrel label inside the guitar however this guitar is much earlier than those models. The top, back and sides are made of Wild Cherry Wood and it has a Rosewood fretboard. The low profile neck makes it very easy to play and the rounded shoulders give it a very distinctive look. This Minstrel features a Martin style headstock. String height as follows: 1st fret - 2mm 6th fret - 4mm 12th fret - 6mm Overall condition is very good with a few light scuffs here and there. No structural issues. There is a small scratch on the back of the headstock - this is not a crack! The top piece of the neck heel has a small crack from the strap button. Other than that just a beautiful guitar. Sounds fantastic with a rich full bottom end and it really resonates well. Very rare guitar as they were not in production for very long. Comes with a nice Fender Hardshell case. Asking $300 Background: Godin was a partner with Norman Boucher from 1970 to 1978. In 1978 Godin broke away and started his own guitar company LaSiDo and began building Minstrel guitars like this one. In 1982 Godin acquired Norman Guitars, discontinued the Minstrel line and launched the very similar Seagull line. I don't know the exact year this guitar was made but can narrow it down to between 1978 and 1982. This high quality guitar was handbuilt by Robert Godin in his early years and is very hard to find. Looks great. Sounds great.
