RARE 1930s Vintage Celluloid Scottie Dog Saving Bank Tudor Rose

    Art & Collectibles ·

    $43

What a beautiful piggy bank (or should I say doggy bank - chuckle), full of character and perfect for display. It was made in England by the well known Tudor Rose company. I am sure they choose the Scottish dog as the Scots have a reputation of being careful with their money - a sort of a fun image to go with coins. Because it's celluloid (a vintage hard plastic), it's easy to date. This pup is older than he looks… 80 years old for sure and possibly closer to 90. Hard to believe such a fragile item could survive with the only thing of note is that the bottom closure is no longer with it. But you would never want to damage it by throwing coins in it anyway. I guess I don't need to mention that this is not a toy anymore - it is only a collectable - a wonderful decoration. There are no cracks or chips and his paint is original and he has come through all the years without much of it being rubbed off. The coin slot too has no wear at all - I suspect it was never used for coins. Celluloid is very difficult to find in such great condition and he is a rare and perfect addition to a Saving Bank collection. He is 7.25" tall and 6" at his widest. Thank you for looking at this item. I am selling it as I need to thin down my various collections which have grown huge over years. We are in White Rock - right by the Semihamoo Mall. We are a - no smoking - no pet - home. If you are paying in cash I would appreciate exact change. I am accepting PayPal payments at this time - not e-transfer. We will be dropping the item off to you, by your car, in our parking lot. Thanks, Andrea
