It lit up just fine when I plugged in my 9v universal adapter, but turned off when unplugged, and I can't wind it fast enough to get it to go on with human-powered energy. Would be fine as a stationary plug-in light (2 brightness sittings) & can be used as a compact light or pops open from the compact light to create a lantern (it's actually really easy to do this by just pulling the top and bottom away from each other). Maybe you will have better luck with the manual charging or find a way to get it to hold the charge? Make me any offer!
