♧ A hardcover book with the title "Towards Health" by J. Arthur Thomson. The book was published by G.P. Putnam's Sons in 1927. ♧ THE aim of this book is to explain the biological ideas that underlie the study of health. There are numerous excellent guides to personal health and there are valuable treatises on social hygiene, but this contribution to one of the most important of subjects has a quite different intention; it seeks to explain the fundamental principles involved. ♧ The chapters formed a series of popular Saturday Erening Lectures (Farquhar Thomson Lectures) delivered annually by members of the Medical Faculty of the University of Aberdeen, the inten-tion of the Trust being to promote the cause of health among the people. It is with that hope that we seek for our lectures a wider audience. J. A.T.
