TWO VINTAGE HMQ NUTCRACKERS CRAB LOBSTER CRACKERS H. M. QUACKENBUSH USA MADE Two vintage HMQ nutcrackers or lobster and crab crackers. Henry M Quackenbush invented the spring jointed nutcracker in 1913 (after successfully producing air guns). His family sold the company to ME Heuck in 1979, and Heuck continued manufacturing the crackers until the early 2000s. The first HMQ nutcracker/ lobster cracker is from the 1950s-1960s and has an ornate spiral beaded design. It is marked “HMQ” on each side of the hinge joint. The other nutcracker/ lobster cracker is from the 1980s and is unused. It is marked “HMQ” on one side of the hinge joint and “Heuck” on the other. This would have been from the transitional period when HMQ was sold to Heuck. - HMQ invented the spring jointed nutcracker - Each arm is 5 inches long - 3 to 3.25 inches wide when fully open - One cracker is from the 1950s-1960s - The second cracker is from the 1980s Please check out my other unique collectible items!!
