Vintage 1950's TV Lamp MidCentury Modern Fibreglass Shade Dog

These TV lamps come from a time when televisions were just arriving in households and are real treasures… and in this condition you don't come across them very often. This one has the fibreglass shade in that very stylized 50s curve. It is unbroken and clean. The banding only has the tiniest miss just above the cocker spaniel (see close up picture). But of course the threading is solid - it won't come undone. The dog is pristine, no chip or crack or even crazing. It may be a Royal Haeger - and it does look like it in style and workmanship - but I have no marking to indicate that it is because they were marked with stickers and that could have been removed years ago. If you are a collector - you will know. Works perfectly with a push on/off switch and the cord is of course longer as they were then - it too has no problems. These lamps were invented because people felt the new invention (television) was too much of a strain on the eye in a dark room and so all manner of soft gentle lights were designed for you to place them near the TV to relieve that eye strain. If they could only have seen the TV's we have now - lol. It is 11" wide, 7.5 " tall and 5" deep. A wonderful new addition to your collection or a fine gift for a collector.
