1950 Tibetan Brass Trinket Box Turquoise Coral Cabochons Small
$59
A mid-century, hand-wrought brass trinket box from the Himalayan region (Tibet). Constructed in a traditional gabled chest design, this piece features hand-soldered wirework settings holding turquoise and coral-colored glass cabochons, arranged in a central floral motif on the lid and accenting the perimeter. The box features a functional front loop latch, a mechanical rear hinge, and rests on four raised brass button feet.
A stamped artisan or workshop number "46" is present on the right-side panel of the lid.
Dimensions:
Length: 3.25 inches
Width: 2.5 inches
Height: 2.5 inches
Condition:
The piece is structurally sound and remains in older condition with a tight-fitting lid and a functional hinge mechanism. Due to the weight distribution of the gabled lid, the box will tilt or fall backward when the lid is fully opened. The brass surface exhibits an authentic, unpolished aged patina, featuring localized oxidation, tarnish, and minor surface abrasions consistent with its age and utilitarian history. The interior shows natural metal discoloration from age.
