Antique French Louis XV / Rococo Vitrine — Original key
$850
Exceptional French Louis XV / Rococo-style antique vitrine, featuring beautiful figured wood veneer, elaborate ormolu-style gilt-bronze/brass mounts, and intricate decorative details throughout.
The cabinet features Rococo floral and scrollwork ormolu, ornate corner mounts, an elaborate decorative crest across the upper section, and a highly detailed central decorative mount above the lower compartment.
The large glass display area retains its original decorative fabric-lined interior and includes two original glass shelves, providing three levels of display space.
The lower portion features a separate storage cabinet section, along with a small drawer, giving the piece both display and storage functionality.
Notable Provenance Detail
The original lock hardware bears a distinctive elephant-head maker's mark associated with Thomas Sanders Ltd. / Sanlock of Birmingham, England, a historic British brassfounder known for producing cabinet hardware.
The elephant-head trademark is documented on period cabinet hardware and provides an interesting piece of provenance for the original hardware on this cabinet.
The original key is included. This is an early-20th-century French Louis XV-style piece, with the combination of elaborate ormolu decoration, figured veneer, original interior fabric, period hardware and original key making it a particularly distinctive cabinet.
