In a world where everyone possesses mana and magical power from birth, Asta is a rare anomaly born with zero magic. Meanwhile, his rival and brother figure, Yuno, is a prodigy blessed with immense magical talent and a rare four-leaf clover grimoire. When Yuno is attacked, Asta's fierce determination summons a tattered five-leaf clover grimoire containing a locked-away devil named Liebe. This book grants Asta Anti-Magic, allowing him to cut, deflect, and nullify any spell. Both youths pass the Magic Knights Entrance Exam. Yuno joins the elite Golden Dawn, while Asta is recruited into the Black Bulls, a chaotic squad of social outcasts led by Captain Yami Sukehiro. Asta and the Black Bulls complete dangerous missions, clashing with the rival Diamond Kingdom and uncovering a terrorist group called the Eye of the Midnight Sun, led by a mysterious figure named Licht. It is revealed that the Eye of the Midnight Sun's actions are part of a centuries-old revenge plot. The souls of the ancient Elf tribe—who were massacred by humans long ago—reincarnate into the bodies of the Magic Knights. Asta, Yuno, and the remaining captains break the spell, defeating the true mastermind, the high-ranking devil Zagred. The story expands to neighboring nations like the Heart Kingdom and the Spade Kingdom. The Spade Kingdom is ruled by the Dark Triad (the Zogratis siblings), who plan to open the gates of the underworld to flood the world with devils. To defeat the dark forces, Asta forms a true pact with his devil Liebe, unlocking Devil Union modes. Combined with Yuno's royal wind magic and star magic revelations, the Magic Knights mount a massive counter-offensive against the Spade Kingdom and high-ranking underworld threats. The long-running manga series (which finished its run in May 2026) concludes with Asta and Yuno facing off in a final test of strength. Asta achieves his lifelong goal of becoming the Wizard King, proving that hard work and perseverance can overcome any barrier of birth or status.
