Custom 24×65mm Panoramic Film Camera – Mamiya-Sekor 65mm

Selling my custom-built 24×65mm panoramic 35mm film camera, built around a vintage Mamiya-Sekor 65mm f/6.3 lens and mechanical leaf shutter. I built this camera as a personal panoramic camera project. I’ve now purchased a 45mm lens and am preparing to build a second, wider-angle version, so I’ve decided to let this 65mm version go. It produces a true 24×65mm panoramic negative on standard 35mm film — the same frame dimensions as the Hasselblad XPan panoramic format. This is a full 65mm-wide exposure, not a crop from a standard 35mm frame. The body and panoramic viewfinder are 3D printed, but the focusing system uses a custom aluminum focusing helicoid/ring, not a plastic focusing thread. The Mamiya 65mm lens was adapted specifically for this camera. I individually calibrated focus at the actual film plane using ground glass, with marked distances of 0.35m / 0.5m / 0.7m / 1m / 2m / 3m / 5m / ∞. The custom optical viewfinder was also checked against the ground-glass image for accurate 24×65 framing. Other features include a mechanical leaf shutter, flash sync connection, fully mechanical operation with no batteries required, and an interior finished with an ultra-matte black light-absorbing coating to reduce internal reflections. The 65mm lens on the 24×65 format gives a natural wide panoramic perspective, rather than the exaggerated look of an ultra-wide lens. Great for street photography, landscapes and cinematic compositions. I have already shot a full first roll of film through the camera. The roll has not yet been developed, so I’m not claiming film-tested results until I see the negatives. Focus and framing were calibrated on ground glass before shooting. This is a hand-built, one-off experimental camera, not a factory-produced product, so please expect the character and small cosmetic imperfections of a custom 3D-printed build. A very unusual camera for anyone into panoramic film photography, XPan-format shooting, experimental cameras or custom camera building. Located in Vancouver. You’re welcome to inspect the lens, shutter, focusing mechanism, film transport and viewfinder in person.
