This miniature wood carving features a whimsical, Scandinavian flat-plane style caricature of an old fisherman or sea captain paddling a bright red canoe. The figure features excellent craftsmanship with distinct un-sanded knife cuts, hand-painted detailing, and a carved wooden paddle accessory. The entire sculpture comes fixed to its original organic, triangular wooden display base. The bottom of the base is clearly signed in vintage cursive ink by renowned New Jersey / Chincoteague Island carver, Walter Oler ("Ollers").
