Antique Sheffield Carving Knife: 1920s Stag Handle Antler

This is a museum-quality 1920s Antique Master Carving Knife from the legendary workshops of Charles Barber & Co. in Sheffield, England. At over 100 years old, this piece represents the pinnacle of British cutlery craftsmanship from the interwar period. Investment Highlights: The Blade: Forged from Firth Stainless Steel, the original "rustless" steel that revolutionized the industry in the early 20th century. The Handle: A massive piece of Genuine Sambar Stag Antler. It features the highly sought-after rugged "bark" texture and has developed a rich, honey-colored patina that only comes with a century of age. The Build: Includes the original nickel silver bolster and weighted end-cap, providing a perfect balance for the 14.25-inch frame. The Maker: Chas. Barber & Co. was a prestigious Sheffield maker known for high-end exports; pieces of this size and "Heavy Carver" width (2") were typically reserved for grand hotel service or wealthy estates. Condition: Antique Condition (Very good for Age). The blade is incredibly full with no significant metal loss from over-sharpening. There are light carbon "freckles" and surface cleaning marks as expected with 100-year-old steel. The stag handle is tight, structurally sound and has wear. The nickel silver fittings have been gently polished but retain their antique character. Please reference photos as they are part of the description of the item.
