Wooden Hamster/Gerbil Tank

This tank is 39" long, 21" wide and the plywood is 0.75" thick, meaning there are 774.5 square inches of interior space for your pet! It's also 25" tall. The air holes on the lid are 0.5" in diameter, and there's a 0.4"ish gap between the lid and the tank to contribute to airflow. The front is decorated with felt, fabric and twine attached with hot glue. There is some felt padding under the lid to soften the sound of it closing. A pneumatic piston holds the lid up when opened. The exterior of the tank is unfinished and unsanded! We were able to fill this tank pretty deep with bedding and still had enough headroom to ensure our gerbil could never reach the lid. Even if your pet reached the lid though, it's way too heavy for a lil guy to move, and the air holes and gap shouldn't be big enough to allow them through unless perhaps they were a small robo hamster/mouse. You might want to make sure their head can't fit through the holes, or consider reinforcing the holes and gap with mesh. The interior sides and bottom of the tank is sealed with watered down non-toxic wood glue safe for small pets and the front is made up of leftover glass from an ikea shelf. After housing our gerbil it's been cleaned out and wiped down with hot soapy water. Though it might have some remnants of sand, it's otherwise clean! We're selling this because our beloved gerbil Slim Jim has recently passed of old age and we likely won't adopt another small pet. Hope this well made tank makes a happy home for someone else!
