Full Description
Up for auction is a gorgeous, beautifully proportioned mid-century Venetian / Murano cased Burmese satin art glass vase, crafted in the highly collectible Victorian "Sack" or "Bag" silhouette. Standing at an ideal cabinet size of 5" tall and weighing a heavy, substantial 558g, this piece transitions seamlessly from a soft salmon-pink ruffled rim down to a rich, custard-yellow base.
The neck of the vase features an intricately applied, matching yellow glass rigaree ribbon that cinches the pouch shape, anchored by a beautiful, textured glass berry bow motif at the center.
The underside reveals a beautifully fire-polished, smooth pontil mark showcasing the deep interior color pull typical of quality vintage Murano casing techniques.
ULTRA-REACTIVE URANIUM GLOW:
This piece is an absolute powerhouse for uranium glass collectors! Under a UV blacklight, the vase explodes with an incredibly intense, uniform neon-green fluorescence across the entire body, ribbon, and berry accent.
• Bonus Display Feature: When illuminated from above, the thick ruffles of the top rim cast a breathtaking, symmetrical starburst/flower shadow pattern onto the bottom of the base. The non-uranium pink core creates a stunning dark contrast in the very center of the glowing starburst. It is spectacular on display!
Condition Report
Please bid with total confidence—this vase has been thoroughly inspected:
• The Body: The main glass body is 100% structurally rock-solid. There are absolutely no cracks, hairline fractures, or post-market adhesive repairs.
• Factory Tool Marks: There is a faint, tiny, completely smooth line near the tip of the ribbon tail. This is a factory shear/tool mark from when the artisan snipped and fused the molten ribbon to the body during production. It is completely original to the piece.
• The Ribbon: The delicate, applied rigaree ribbon does show some minor, small chips/flea bites along its fragile wavy edges from age. The central berry cluster remains entirely intact.
