Behind the whale is a lush, mossy-green backdrop in teal, emerald and golden-green tones. This piece has real texture. The splashes, droplets and foliage are built up in thick, sculpted paint that catches the light, while the water in the foreground is smooth and flowing, with soft white highlights and a dark reflection of the tail.
