Original WWII US Army "Special Order" Extract - Dated August 1942. This is an original, typed military document issued by the Fort Jay Recruiting and Induction Station on Governors Island, New York. The document tracks the movement of Charles Francis Lange (Service No. 32419437) of Brooklyn, NY. It details his release from active duty to the Enlisted Reserve Corps on August 3, 1942, and his subsequent call to active duty on August 17, 1942, ordering him to report to the Reception Center at Camp Upton, NY. Details & Condition: Date: August 3, 1942 (Effective date Aug 17, 1942). Signatures: Printed signatures of Captain Eugene D. Firth (Acting Adjutant). Locations Mentioned: Governors Island (Fort Jay), Brooklyn (1265 E. 37th St), and Camp Upton (Long Island). Condition: Good vintage condition. Shows natural age toning and original fold lines. There are small chips/tears along the top and bottom edges (see photos), but the text is fully legible and the paper remains stable. A great piece for collectors of WWII ephemera, New York City military history
