Studio Art Glass Double Spout Ice Vase
$250
Vintage Mid-Century Modern Studio Art Glass Double Spout Ice Vase - Brutalist Teal & Brown Slag Glass, Icicle Stalactite Texture, Unsigned Blenko/Sklo Union Style (13" x 6.5")
Up for sale is a truly stunning, one-of-a-kind vintage mid-century modern studio art glass vase. This striking piece features a dramatic freeform body that splits into an organic double-spout rim at the top.
The colorway is a gorgeous bi-color gradient, shifting seamlessly from a vibrant translucent teal blue on one side to a deep, smoky chocolate brown on the back. A raised, organic vertical ridge runs right up the center of the smooth brown side. The true highlight of this vase is the heavy, heavily textured white "icicle" or "stalactite" glass block application fused onto the front. This icy, sugary frosted texture features a distinct blocky grid pattern that wonderfully catches and diffuses the light. It strongly mimics the brutalist, glacier-inspired ice glass styles popularized by mid-century Scandinavian and Czech studios like Iittala, Humppila, and Sklo Union.
