Vintage Welland Vale Forged Steel Miner’s Pickaxe / Mattock Combo Tool
Pre-1965 Canadian Antique
Incredible piece of Canadian industrial history—an authentic, antique Welland Vale miner's pickaxe / mattock combination tool.
This heavy-duty tool features a dual-sided, drop-forged steel head stamped with the highly collectible "WELLAND VALE" maker's mark, proving its origin from the historic St. Catharines, Ontario factory.
Because of this specific stamped lettering style, this piece is verified to have been manufactured pre-1965, before operations shifted fully under True Temper ownership
The head features a sharp pick on one end for fracturing rock or hard soil, and a broad mattock/adze blade on the other for trenching and digging.
It comes mounted on its original, sturdy hardwood handle (aged hickory), which boasts a gorgeous, rich patina and smooth grain weathered from decades of authentic history.
Whether you are a vintage tool collector, a historical re-enactor, or looking for an incredible rustic display piece for a cabin, workshop, or garage, this legendary piece of Canadian steel is built to last another lifetime.
