Hardy Prickly Pear cactus- native to Canada -survives the winter in Ontario and Alberta
Grows outside in sunny gardens
Summer and winter
Two varieties - pale yellow or bright yellow with red centre
Blooms in June - followed by red fruit after -best bloom if in full sun- will tolerate semi-sun but not bloom as well
Grows less than 12” high. Sprawls up to 18” wide. .
Be careful with the thorns
Selling pads- no roots, but these cactus would root and grow if you throw them on a sunny gravel driveway. (like mine -which you will see if you come to pick up)

Pads should be placed in a pot with potting soil - plant outside when rooted. Handle with care as there are many thorns - the big ones hurt the most. But small ones will stick in your skin like a sliver.
