Vintage Penguin Warm & Cold Server, 1940’s by West Bend
$100
Selling a vintage West Bend Penguin Hot & Cold Server, a classic Mid-Century Modern insulated serving bowl originally designed by Ralph N. Kircher in 1941.
These pieces were produced by the West Bend Aluminum Company in Wisconsin and became very popular in the late 1940s through the 1950s as stylish serving pieces for home entertaining.
The server has the distinctive spherical shape with a flat base and the decorative embossed band of penguins around the center, which is what made these pieces so recognizable and collectible.
It was designed as an insulated container that could be used to keep ice cubes, casseroles, or side dishes hot or cold while serving.
This type of server is now considered a collectible piece of vintage barware and mid-century kitchen design, and they are often sought after by collectors or people decorating mid-century style homes and bars.
Typical size for these servers is around 8–10 inches wide and 8–10 inches tall, making them a great statement piece for entertaining or display.
