3 pieces of early-mid 19th century African art

The first piece is an Ivory Coast early 19th century Dan mask. The face is carved from dark polished wood. These masks are believed to inhabit forest spirits and this one represents a gentle feminine spirit. The border is made from a padded roll of cloth with cowrie shells which symbolize wealth, status and spiritual protection. The mask measures 9.5 x 8 inches. The 2 sculptures represent the masculine and feminine and are made from dark ebony wood. These pieces feature elongated human sillhouettes which is most prominent in East African Makonde art. The mark on the bottom reads egie and probably represents the makers name. The statues are 14.5 inches tall and the base is 5.5 inches. Pickup only.
