Up for auction is a wonderful piece of local Toronto history! This is an original vintage advertising poster for the 1989 City of North York Winter Carnival, which took place on February 10, 11, and 12, 1989, at the historic Black Creek Pioneer Village.
The poster features highly detailed, vibrant 1980s hand-drawn illustrations showcasing over 100 winter events. The center of the artwork proudly displays "Nork", the lovable giant snowman carnival mascot whose name was chosen by local school children. The background is packed with nostalgic imagery, including a hot air balloon, night fireworks, horse-drawn sleigh rides, a popcorn booth, and a bustling carnival midway.
