Italian Hand-Painted Porcelain Rose Basket, Marked Italy
$595
Italian Hand-Painted Porcelain Rose Basket, Marked Italy
Dimensions: approx. 9” H x 13” L x 7” D
Material/Technique: hand-painted, glazed porcelain; sculptural applied roses and foliage; molded “woven” basket form with arched handle.
Markings: underside marked “ITALY” with additional mark appearing as “3 H A / 3HA” (see photo).
Description
Highly decorative Italian porcelain floral basket featuring full-bloom pink and yellow roses with lush green leaves and a green-glazed handle. The modeling is dimensional and detailed, with a convincing basket-weave body and a dense floral arrangement suited for collector display (Italian decorative porcelain / Capodimonte-style tradition).
Condition (read carefully)
This piece presents beautifully, but it is not mint:
• Pink rose: several petals chipped (notably on the rose shown in the photos).
• Yellow rose: tiny tip chips only, described as very minimal, plus small edge wear/chipping on the underside of the yellow petals.
• No other damage observed beyond typical light handling wear; glaze remains glossy and colors are strong.
Photos are considered part of the description—please review close-ups for exact chip locations and size.
The appeal here is the hand-painted finish, dimensional sculpting, strong color, and impressive scale. With honest disclosure, this is an excellent display-quality example of Italian floral porcelain, priced appropriately for condition.
Most likely mid–late 20th century (circa 1960s–1980s).
Reason: the generic “ITALY” stamp with an additional code-like mark (your “3HA”) is typical of export-era Italian decorative porcelains, and this form (applied porcelain roses in a basket / Capodimonte-style) was heavily produced and exported in that period.
“Mid- to late-20th century Italian, Capodimonte-style floral basket, marked ITALY.”
