Antique Nippon-Era Hand-Painted Dish, Cobalt & Raised Gilt

Highly decorative antique Japanese export porcelain handled serving dish (bon bon / sweetmeat / tidbit), richly finished in cobalt blue enamel reserves and lavish raised gilt with scrolling Rococo-style ornament and floral cartouches. The decoration is unmistakably Nippon-era collector grade—a gleaming white porcelain ground, saturated cobalt panels, and hand-applied gold outlining and embellishment that reads beautifully in a cabinet or on a dressed table. The underside bears the desirable green backstamp: “Hand Painted” above the Morimura “M” in laurel wreath, with “NIPPON” below, identifying it as early Noritake / Morimura Brothers export ware produced for Western markets during the Nippon era. This style of “Hand Painted Nippon” Morimura wreath mark is commonly associated with the early 1910s through c. 1921. Because U.S. customs accepted “Nippon” as the country name during 1891–1921, pieces marked “Nippon” are reliably placed within that window.
