Set of 3 Early 20th C Black Glass Goblets w Raised Gilt
$2,450
A dramatic set of three early 20th century–attributed black glass goblets, richly embellished with hand-applied raised gilt enamel in ornate cartouche motifs. Against the mirror-dark, obsidian body, the gold decoration reads like jewelry—dimensional, tactile, and sculptural—catching light with a warm antique glow. The interiors reveal subtle deep wine and midnight-toned undertones under illumination, adding depth and complexity beyond a simple black profile.
This is not a factory-identical set. Each goblet is individually hand-formed and hand-decorated, with slight variation in height and bowl profile consistent with artisanal production. Displayed together, they present as a matched trio with the kind of nuanced irregularity collectors associate with hand workmanship.
The raised gold work is applied in relief, with visible thickness and texture at the rim panels. The overall effect is ceremonial and luxe—ideal for a refined bar display, a collector’s cabinet, or as decorative objects in a high-contrast interior.
