Vintage Matlock by Keeling & Co. Ltd Large Oval Serving Platter
$30
This “Matlock “ patterned, large, oval serving platter was made in England in the earliest decades of the 1900 (1906-1936). “Matlock”refers to a specific antique blue & white china pattern manufactured by Keeling & Co. This historic pottery firm operated out of Dale Hall Works in Burslem, Staffordshire, England, in the heart of the historic English pottery industry. The Matlock pattern was and is known for its classic flow and a blue on white aesthetic, which often featured intricate floral (as seen in this piece), scenic or geometric motifs. This specific serving platter has a scalloped edge and a decorative blue filigree border around the rim. The center is plain white with a smooth finish. Measuring at approximately 17 3/4 inches in length and 14 inches wide, this platter features the traditional aesthetic styling common to the late Victorian and Art Deco eras. Because of its heavy ironstone construction, this highly collectible, oversized platter is perfect for displaying roasts or for antipasti. As beautiful as it is functional, it is in good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. It has a slight manufacturing flaw on the edge of the right hand side (see pictures) and minimal crazing on the surface of the platter. The underside of the platter shows more crazing & vintage wear. Display this piece in your cottage style kitchen or as an antique in any dining setting. Own a highly collectible piece of early 20th century English ironstone. Driveway pickup
