Antique Adding Machine
$100
This is an original Burroughs Class 5 adding machine, manufactured in Detroit, Michigan by the Burroughs Adding Machine Company between 1920 and 1925. Based on the serial number, this particular machine was built in 1920—making it 105 years old and remarkably well-preserved.
This model is a full-keyboard, non-printing, manual adding machine featuring:
• Nine columns of keys
• A black metal case with a classic green keyboard plate
• A zeroing lever on the right side
• Addition-only functionality (no built-in subtraction)
Weighing approximately 20 lbs, the Class 5 was built to last—and this example proves it. Not only is it in very good condition, but it is also fully operational, which is increasingly rare for machines of this age.
Whether you’re a collector, accountant, mathematics enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates unique antique industrial design, this is a standout piece. These machines are not easy to find—especially working models—and they make fantastic decor, conversation pieces.
