Antique Mission Oak Side Chair – Rare Red Rexine Seat

Offering a beautiful Mission-style solid oak side chair with a rare original red Rexine (oilcloth) seat. This piece has been in my family since it was purchased new in the early 20th century. Rexine was a popular early 20th-century leathercloth often used by quality British and North American makers as a durable alternative to real leather. The chair features the classic, sturdy lines of the Arts & Crafts movement, reminiscent of designs by Gustav Stickley or Charles Limbert. While there are no visible maker’s marks, the craftsmanship and "splat-back" design are characteristic of high-quality period Mission oak furniture. Condition: The chair is in solid, sturdy condition. As an authentic antique, it shows some "character" scuffs on the oak frame and the red Rexine seat has some period-appropriate wear (please see photos for details). It possesses a wonderful aged patina that only comes with over 100 years of use. It’s a perfect statement accent chair, desk chair, or restoration piece for a collector. Measurements: Total Height: 33 1/4" Seat Height: 18 1/2" Front Width: 17" Back Width: 13 1/2" Chair Depth: 16 3/4" Smoke-free home. Pickup only.
