Title: A Shoe That Runs "Backward," and the Man Behind It Who Never Chased Trends
If you know Jun Takahashi, you know that Undercover was never a brand built for following the crowd. The Japanese designer came up through the Harajuku street scene and eventually brought his shows to Paris, but he's always carried a kind of punk rebellion at his core—no pandering, no explaining, just making what he believes is right.
And Gyakusou is the purest extension of that rebellious spirit. It comes from GIRA, the Tokyo running crew Takahashi founded himself. The word literally means "running in reverse." When everyone in the park runs clockwise, he and his crew deliberately go the other way. The reason is simple: running is his own thing—he doesn't need to match anyone else.
Nike x Undercover Gyakusou Zoom Elite+ 5 is that philosophy underfoot. Born from the early Gyakusou Spring 2012 collection that old heads still obsess over, the shoe features a lightweight mesh upper, forefoot Zoom Air, and a color palette that deliberately avoids loud fluorescents—think Cannon, Granite, Peat Moss, those low-saturation natural tones. Takahashi said it was meant to "blend into the city and nature." It doesn't shout. It speaks through texture.
This pair: brand new, never worn. No miles, no marks, box and originals included. For a Gyakusou sneaker that's been out of production for over a decade, that means you're getting a piece frozen in its 2012 original state.
