McDonald's "The Drive-In With The Arches" Tin Lunch Box - Golden Arches Collector Edition
McDonald's "The Drive-In With The Arches" tin lunch box, Golden Arches collector edition.
History: Brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald opened their San Bernardino drive-in in 1940, and in 1948 relaunched it with the Speedee Service System - self-service, a short menu, and the famous 15-cent hamburger. The golden arches building design followed in the early 1950s, with the first arches restaurant opening in Phoenix in 1953, before Ray Kroc opened the first McDonald's System restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois in 1955. Speedee, the little chef mascot on this box, was McDonald's original mascot before Ronald McDonald.
This tin celebrates that early drive-in era. It is a later collector edition, not a 1950s original.
Front shows the McDonald's Hamburgers sign and golden arches restaurant. Sides show Speedee and vintage McDonald's advertising art. Inside is gold-coloured and empty, no thermos included. Handle and clasp intact.
