$49
This is a sophisticated pair of antique silver-plated salt and pepper shakers by the Benedict-Proctor Manufacturing Company of Trenton, Ontario. A true piece of Canadian history, this set features a Neo-Classical urn silhouette embellished with ornate "Harvest Grape" clusters on the handles and a delicate scalloped pedestal base. These are high-quality, heavy-weight pieces characteristic of early 20th-century Canadian craftsmanship.
Maker: Benedict-Proctor Mfg. Co. (Trenton, ON)
Era: late 1920s
Pattern: Grapevine Urn
Material: Silver Plate (EPNS/EP Copper)
Total Weight: .395 kilos

The set is in vintage antique condition with a rich, natural patina. There is characteristic tarnish and visible "salt pitting" (oxidation) inside the rim and on the interior of the lids, which is typical for shakers of this age. One lid finial has a slight bend. Some thinning of the silver plate is visible on the high-relief grape details, revealing the warm base metal underneath. They have been left in their original "as-found" state to preserve the aged character preferred by many collectors.
