Inuit Artist Lucy Qinnuayuak’s Ltd Ed Lithograph Dorset 1980🐞

Inuit artist Lucy Qinnuayuak’s large limited edition lithograph titled “On the Ocean” Dorset 1980. Signed and dated in pencil by the artist to the top left. The artist also signed in Syllabics. Circa 1980. Numbered 2/50. Note the embossed seals to the lower right. Lucy Qinnuayuak was born in 1915 in Salluit, Quebec. At an early age her family moved to Baffin Island where they settled in Cape Dorset. Lucy passed away in 1982 in Cape Dorset. Lucy was a graphic artist and a printmaker. Her works are exhibited extensively in and out of Canada. One of her designs was used in promotional banners for the 1976 Summer Olympics. Her stone cut titled “We All Have Something To Do” is part of the Senate of Canada’s Aboriginal Art Collection. Her works are held by several institutions worldwide and remain in demand by collectors. This lithograph is a depiction of a seal hunt. The colours remain brilliant with amazing attention to design and detail. Good condition. Professionally framed and matted. Any wear commensurates with the age. Art is approximately 18.5” wide and 15” long. Frame is approximately 27” wide and 23” long.
