Refectory Dining Table & 6 Chairs (Oak/Leather) Tudor/Elizabeth
$2,000
Sturdy oak refectory table with 6 oak/leather chairs.
Made by a small artisan workshop in England called Jaycee Furniture (Bexhill Road, Brighton, Sussex) know worldwide among aficionados for their lovingly crafted reproductions of Tudor and Elizabethan designs.
Imported from England. Bought at Ridpaths in 1993.
π· Please read details and see all photos, including receipt for table, receipt for chairs and printed description of Jaycee furniture.
β Very sturdy.
β 2 extendable leaves (integrated).
β 6 chairs available (read below about the chairs)
Table:
The table base is solid oak. I think the table top is oak veneer over solid wood (see printed description).
Integrated leaves are easy to pull out and tuck back in.
It looks like the table top is designed to lift off for transport.
Chairs:
β solid oak
β genuine leather
β leather colour: Espresso (dark brown)
β carved legs
β amazingly comfortable
β supportive padded back.
The chairs are solid oak, with carved legs, and thick natural hide (genuine leather) upholstery that is in outstanding condition on all the chairs.
Amazingly comfortable with a supportive padded back, these are the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in, especially for long term sitting. I have a bad back and when I get up after 15 minutes on a regular chair my back hurts, but I can sit for an hour an a half or more on these and get up with zero pain whatsoever. Amazing.
Thick natural leather upholstery is in perfect new condition throughout (a function of its high quality).
π Table Measurements:
Height: 30.25"
Width: 35.5"
Length (both leaves tucked under): 57.5"
Each leaf is 12".
With both leaves extended: 81.5"
βοΈ Excellent condition. Bought in 1993 and lovingly cared for by one owner.
Selling for a fraction of the 1993 price. The chairs were $6,279 and the table was $2,673 for a total of $8,952 (in 1993 dollars) but Jaycee is no longer in operation so these sets are not available to order. While they're occasionally available second hand in Europe, they are exceptionally rare in North America.
π Pick up from Bathurst & Sheppard, early afternoons (house with driveway). It's on the ground floor but there are a few porch stairs to navigate. Please bring someone to help you. It's heavy and I cannot help move but will happily hold doors.
