“Ayusi Sweeping Bandits with a Lance” by Giuseppe Castiglione

Also known by his Chinese name Lang Shining, Castiglione was an Italian Jesuit missionary and painter who served at the Qing court for 50 years, from 1715 to 1766. His painting style uniquely blends European and Chinese techniques and themes. 26 3/4” x 14 3/4”. The image is in colour and the frame is wood. The original is housed in The National Museum of Taiwan in Taipei. Pickup is in Downtown Vancouver
