An exceptional and highly collectible vintage vase from the iconic “Memphis” series by renowned British ceramic designer Colin Melbourne, produced by Crown Devon (S. Fielding & Co. Ltd, Stoke-on-Trent, England), circa 1959. This CM7 model perfectly captures the elegance of the Space Age and Mid-Century Modern movement with its tall conical silhouette and striking matte satin black glaze. The surface is beautifully enhanced with hand-etched (sgraffito) gold geometric decoration, giving the piece a refined yet bold architectural presence. A true statement piece for collectors of British art pottery and mid-century design. The Memphis line is especially sought after for its sculptural forms and sophisticated surface treatments.
