NEW TO WASAGA BEACH — AND YES, I BROUGHT MY WORMS WITH ME! 🌱🪱 Hi neighbours! 👋 I recently moved to Wasaga Beach from Mississauga and thought it was time to introduce myself — and the rather unusual little business that came north with me. I deal in WORMS! 🪱 🎣 Bait worms — dew and trout worms — $5/dozen! 🌱 Lawn & garden worms ♻️ Composting worms 🌿 Worm education & natural soil improvement And after moving here, I quickly realized that Wasaga Beach may be a pretty perfect place for what I do. We have a LOT of sand! 🏖️ That can make establishing and maintaining healthy lawns and gardens challenging, particularly in some of the newer subdivisions where the natural soil structure may be limited. That’s where worms can help. Worms are nature’s tiny soil engineers. They can help aerate soil, recycle organic matter, improve soil structure and naturally return nutrients to the earth — without relying solely on synthetic fertilizers. I’ve been working with worms as an organic gardener since 2007 and turned that fascination into my own grassroots business in 2016. Over the years, I’ve farmed worms, sold them and taught people from ages of about 8 to 108 how to use worms for composting, gardening, soil improvement and more. I’ve worked one-on-one, in classrooms and in corporate and community settings. My customers have included gardeners, growers, landscapers, eco-conscious families, teachers, fishermen, and fish and reptile owners. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with organizations including Great Lakes Greenhouses, Fresh City Farms, Peel and Toronto school boards and the Toronto Zoo.
