Vintage Chinese Black Lacquer & Mother-of-Pearl Relief Inlay Wall Panel, 12.5" x 36" – Mid-Century Chinoiserie
An exquisite mid-century Chinese export black lacquer wall panel featuring high-relief mother-of-pearl (nacre) shell inlay. This vertical panel beautifully depicts a traditional Springtime bird and blossom motif, a classic theme in oriental decorative arts.
The artwork features a meticulously detailed pair of long-tailed songbirds interacting amid blooming narcissus (daffodils) and magnolias arising from behind a scholar’s rock. The entire scene is framed by an elegant, hand-painted gold geometric trellis (diaper-pattern) border. Fitted with a traditional brass hanging bracket at the top crest.
