Wanted: Looking to test X299 motherboard with Core-X CPU

There's a story here, but the Reader's Digest version is I gambled buying an "untested" high end x299 board. I haven't pulled apart a system or kept up in over a decade, and didn't realize Xeons won't POST the board. I don't really want to sink another $100+ to find it actually is dead.
