A 24" × 24" original painting by Vancouver artist Ken Foster, signed K. Foster and dated either 2007 or 2009. Painted directly onto a reclaimed industrial GATE 2 sign, the work brings together a mohawked skull-like figure, fragmented machinery, wheels and gauges, with a black cat emerging from the lower-right portion of the composition.
Blue-grey, lavender, pink and black forms overlap through dense gestural marks, creating a collision of anatomy, machinery and urban energy. The reclaimed industrial sign remains visible on the reverse, retaining the scratches, paint splatter and wear from its previous life.
