Ron Lee Bronze & Gold on Onyx 1980s clown figurines

Born in Southern California in 1947, artist Ron Lee began carving at the age of 12. In his teens, he sculpted and cast bronze animals. Ron Lee's figurines of the Emmett Kelly Senior and Junior clown characters, based on famous circus clowns, became among his most known works. Ron Lee's figurines were not limited to clowns, however. In 1990, he was commissioned by Disney to create a Mickey Mouse sculpture, and then he went on to work with Marvel, DC Comics, and several other large entities. Ron Lee's artwork went through a long, detailed process. First he sculpted the piece, then preserved it in casting materials, and finally, he hand painted it with chrome and gold detailing.
