Meet Audrey! 🏡 Neighbourhood: Langstaff, Richmond Hill 🚀 Karrot Status: Pro Karroter 💗 Describe Karrot in 1 word: “Sustainable ♻️” 🥕 Audrey's profile: 86GYK7jj5Gn7q3ey Q: First impression of Karrot? I found Karrot through a Newcomer Facebook group when I was moving from Hong Kong to Toronto. I find Karrot to be more user friendly with their AI posting feature. As someone who just moved to Canada and isn’t that comfortable with English yet, the auto generating description helps me post easier! I have had a lot of success selling my baby items and cleaning out my home. Q: Tips for buying & selling? - Upload multiple photos of the item and create clear written descriptions (size, condition, etc.) to give the buyer a better understanding of what you’re trying to sell. - Create search alerts to notify you of new listings that match what you’re looking for. Q: Motivation for choosing to buy & sell secondhand? I find it to be a convenient and eco-friendly way to declutter without contributing to landfills. And I’m always looking to modify my home so it’s crucial to clear up space. When I was moving from Toronto to Richmond Hill, I started listing items for free and I got a lot more buyers that way. I don’t see it as a loss, as something that doesn’t benefit me anymore can serve purpose for someone else. Q: Most memorable experience? When I was selling a lot of baby items, I saw the same person several times a day. I later found out that the buyer had lost his job and I hope that my baby items were helpful to him. Q: What makes Karrot community special? I’ve never tried any other marketplace apps since I’ve moved here, but I don’t plan on switching. Everyone I’ve met on Karrot were all super nice and made me feel safe. I’ve heard sketchy stories from my friends and I think first impression is really important so I hope Karrot continues to foster this sense of security. Q: What’s your favourite event to participate in? I like the Monthly Declutter Challenges because I can get my husband involved, and it really motivates us to get rid of stuff. I was lucky enough to win an iPad last time! Even without a reward, it feels good to clear out our space. I also like Freecycle since I already give out items for free and it’s a nice encouragement to continue doing so. Thanks for reading everyone!
