Vintage Neoclassical Bas Relief Plaque Greek Roman Classical Art

Vintage Neoclassical Bas Relief Wall Plaque with Three Classical Female Figures, likely Italian/Mediterranean Greco-Roman revival, cast plaster/composition stone, circa 1930s–1960s. Beautiful and unusual vintage neoclassical bas-relief wall plaque featuring three classical female figures in motion, inspired by ancient Greek/Roman art and mythology. This is a substantial, heavy piece with a wonderful aged patina and sculptural detail throughout the drapery and figures. Based on the material, construction and back, appears to be a hand-cast plaster / composition stone / cement-plaster relief rather than carved natural stone. The scene is done in a Greco-Roman revival / Grand Tour style, likely depicting dancing maenads, muses or nymphs in the classical tradition. The rough hand-cast back, weight, surface wear and old hanging hardware all point to an older decorative wall plaque, likely mid-20th century, 1930s–1960s, and possibly of Italian or Mediterranean neoclassical inspiration. A striking piece for classical decor, gallery walls, old world interiors, Mediterranean decor, Grand Tour style collections, or sculpture/art lovers. Abot 14” wide x 11” tall Good vintage condition with age-related wear, surface patina, casting irregularities, edge wear. Note: the piece retains its original older hanging hardware, but due to its substantial weight I would recommend using a stronger/more secure wall mounting method if displaying it on a wall. It can also be displayed on an art stand. Pick up downtown Calgary, parking available, cash only please
