Crystal with Goethite

Quartz Crystal Cluster specimen with Goethite/Hematite on Matrix. This type of specimen records multiple geological stages: first the quartz crystals grew in a cavity, then iron-rich groundwater entered and deposited new mineral crystals on top of them. Because of this, the red areas appear granular and sparkly rather than flat coloration. A nice example of mineral association rather than a single mineral piece. Unpolished, untreated, and uncleaned beyond light rinsing. Natural surfaces preserved.
