Antique Arts & Crafts Hand-Hammered Wrought Iron Fireplace Scree
$380
Antique Arts & Crafts Fireplace Screen — Hand-Hammered Wrought Iron, All Original. A genuine piece of the Arts and Crafts movement (c. 1900–1920s), when artisans rejected mass production in favour of honest handmade work. Every mark on this screen was made by hand: the dimpled border shaped one hammer strike at a time, the rivets set by hand, the cast iron pine cone finial — a signature Arts and Crafts motif — chosen deliberately. Why this piece: All original — mesh, finial, feet, and finish all intact and untouched. In the antique world, "all original" is everything, and unrestored examples are increasingly rare. The patina can't be faked. Warm bronze fading to charcoal in the hammer marks — over a century of honest aging, irreproducible by any treatment. Riveted, not welded — construction that confirms it predates modern manufacturing. Works in any room. Sculptural focal point in a modern space, wall art in an industrial loft, beside a wood stove in a farmhouse, or in its natural context in a Craftsman or Victorian home. Equally at home in front of a non-working fireplace as pure decoration. Details: Hand-hammered wrought iron frame, arched Mission-style silhouette. Original fine wire spark mesh, fully intact. Original L-bracket feet — stable and freestanding. Professionally cleaned and wax-sealed to preserve the original finish. 38"W × 28"H × 7"D. Comparable all-original examples list for $800–1,500 USD on 1stDibs and Chairish. Own a genuine piece of craft history for a fraction of that, here in Calgary. Pickup: Royal Oak NW, Calgary. Porch pickup preferred; loading help available. In-person viewing welcome.
